So, I found this cool info a Hungry-Girl.com

From what I read on Hungry Girl, there are foods that "burn fat" more efficiently.

  • Green Tea helps speed up metabolism and specifically attacks belly fat!
            Try This!
        • Mix a little unsweetened iced green tea with some sugar-free lemonade.  Suppose to taste like an Arnold Palmer without the guilty calories.
  • Drinking Water can raise your metabolism up to 25% after drinking just two cups. Drink up!
  • Spices like cayenne or chili powder boosts your heart rate and helps to get your metabolism going. Ginger expands your blood vessels to increase metabolism. Cinnamon can help prevent insulin spikes which can effect your appetite.
  • Salmon & Tuna help control the amount of the protein hormone Leptin. Leptin controls food intake by sending a signal to your brain that you are full. It also controls you body's energy expenditure. So, increasing your leptin levels increases your metabolism. Fat cells or adipose tissue is responsible for the regulation of leptin in your body. Check out wikipedia to find out more about leptin.
    • I find it interesting that leptin also effects your reproduction and that some studies found leptin levels can effect egg quality and the outcome during IVF. And, uterine contractions are hindered by leptin during labor. Hmmm, that makes me wonder about my own reproductive history!
    • and one more interesting fact about leptin: A recent study found that high amounts of fructose (artificial sweeteners) causes leptin resistance and elevated triglycerides in rats causing them to eat more and gain more weight when fed a high fat, high calorie diet. With that said, I am lead to believe drinking a diet drink and a Whopper will make you fatter than a regular drink and a Whopper.  Makes sense if you think about it.  Why is it the guy who is always drinking diet Coke and eats everything you eat gains more weight? Leptin! So remember, if you try that Green Tea Lemonade drink do it in moderation or better yet try it with home-made lemonade and sugar in the raw!
  • There are other tips listed on the site (CLICK HERE) but they do not apply to my plan yet!
I am so excited about the knowledge I am finding ever day. Some of the information makes me wonder about my own medical history. I think by researching and finding real reason, it will help me to convert to a more healthy eating style sooner.  Knowing why something is better or worse for you makes it easier to choose the right way!
