Day 6 - Pretty Proud

How I did for today?

  • I could have done better but overall, I am proud of the decisions I made.  I went to a 50th Birthday Party for my big/older brother L.  If I never mentioned it to you before, my family is composed of eaters.  Translation: Yeah, there was a lot of food. A lot that I couldn't eat but, I did great.  I even sat at the table the food was on and only snacked on celery.
  • I wasn't sure there would be anything, other than salad, I could eat so, I brought my own dinner.  However, I was very surprised to find my sister-in-law E. had brought a pork roast that was cooked in a crockpot with water and spices.  It was yummy. I took some home for work on Monday!
  • The greatest part of the night was being able to talk about what I was doing with my sister-in-laws E. and D., my brother's friend S. and my niece T. I felt so empowered by their enthusiasm.  Most import think I learned was from my sister-in-law E. She told me not to call it a diet because diets end. (LOL) I told her that I will not call it a diet anymore.  It call it my plan. A plan to better eating.  I'm so happy my family is supportive. Thank you. I need it!

Here is what I had today:
  • Breakfast
    • 1 chocolate protein shake
  • Lunch
    • 1 chocolate protein shake
  • Mid-afternoon
    • 1 chocolate protein shake - I forgot to drink it all but it was okay because I needed to stretch my dinner to a little later than normal.
  • Dinner
    • 5 oz of jumbo shrimp steamed with a cajun spice
    • 1/2 cup of baby carrots steamed with the shrimp and spices
    • a salad with lite italian dressing
    • a very small maybe 1 to 1.5 oz piece of the crockpot roasted pork
    • 4 pieces of sharp cheese - It's a weakness. I found it too hard to resist. I should have walked away. But, I figured it could have been worse since there was cake!
    • Lots of celery - I think I ate it all!
  • Snack
    • Half of a large green pear - I'd like to thank my sister's boyfriend for eating the other half for me so I didn't have to waste it! Thanks M.
What I could change today?

  • I guess I should have more faith in myself. I made it a pretty long time before I gave in and ate that cheese but, next time I'll have to remembered to step back and wait 10-15 minutes.  The craving may have gone away. But, I doubt it! LOL

Inspirational Thought for Today

Even if you are on the right track,
you'll get run over if you just sit there.
